The festival of lights gets celebrated all over the country . It represents the victory of good over evil and the entire country looks outstanding , bedecked with colourful lights , sparkle of colours and sweetmeats being exchanged all over . Music programmes , sound and light shows , exchange of pleasantries accompany the celebrations. This year it was a 2 day holiday and what better it could be than dining out , decking the house with crackers , visiting a close doctor friend of mine who had a plethora of beautiful dolphin rockets with a dozen at a time flying off with bombs to display . Other than wining and dining with a whole lot of outside friends from my current network , Diwali also provided an opportunity to connect with friends and contacts across the globe , as a lot of curiosity was expressed after I sent in some friendship messages to some of my offshore friends , especially those on the linkedin contact . The health dimension of course takes a beating thanks to my pre-diabetic disposition ...but who cares , when you can consume some fasting sugar toilets and proceed on long walks with a certain pep in the air during early mornings . Also a time when I could catch up on some exciting reading - Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi and a rare glimpse of the Moghuls in a book entitled - Empire of the Moghul Ruler of the World - Alex Rutherford . This is an inside story of the torment undergone by Akbar as he took charge and the stress involved in handling Bairam Khan ,his mentor and confidante - a legacy of his father who was not willing to voluntarily dilute his power and mentoring driven to some extent by authority .
