Manipulate Time With These Powerful 20 Time Management Tips

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnrampton/2018/05/01/manipulate-time-with-these-powerful-20-time-management-tips/?sh=7e14eb8957ab John Rampton We all have 24-hours in a day. But, why does it seem that some people are able to get the most out of every minute of the day? Believe it or not, they don’t have the power to slow down time. They do, however, know how to properly   manage their time . Want to know how you can become a master of  time management  as well? Start by using these 20 super-powerful time management tips. 1. Create a time audit. When it comes to time management, the first step you need to take is finding out where your time actually goes. You may believe that you only send 30 minutes on  emails , but in reality that task is eating-up an hour of your day. The easiest way to keep track of your time is to download an app like  RescueTime ,  Toggl  or my app  Calendar  to track everything you do for a week. You can then access a report to find out what’s stealing your time.

Desireless Action

Leaving aside the matter of desireless action, there is in the action itself a joy which you cannot find in the fruit. Total absorption in one’s own work is an  everlasting spring of joy. Were you to offer any amount of money to an artist for refraining from painting, would he agree? Certainly not. If you tell a farmer not go to the field, not to graze the cattle or draw water from the well, and offer him as much grains as he wants, he would certainly not agree to it if he were a true farmer. A farmer goes to the field in the early morning. There the Sun-god welcomes him. Birds sing for him. Cattle gather around him. He caresses them with affection, casts a loving glance at the plants. There is a sattvik, sublime joy in all this.  This joy, in fact, is the true and main reward of his work. Compared to it, the material fruit of action is secondary. When the Gita takes a man’s attention away from the fruit of his actions, it increases hundredfold his concentration in his work

Vinobha Bhave on food & Unity in the Universe

Take the matter of food. Is there any opposition between the mouth and  the stomach, the two organs involved in eating? Mouth should provide to the  stomach only as much food as it really needs. It should not go on eating  something just because it is tasty and delicious.  The mouth should stop the  moment the stomach signals it to do so. Both the stomach and the mouth are  our organs. We are the master of both of them. There is perfect unity between  their interests. Why do you create any wretched opposition?  The organs in the  body are not opposed to each other; there is cooperation between them. This is  true for the society as well. To promote cooperation within the society, the  Gita is prescribing yajna-dana-tapas, to be performed with a pure heart. Such  karma will lead to the welfare of both the individual and the society

Thinking as a Way to Wisdom ...

Adapted from the 48 Ways of aish.com   "Deliberation" means to ponder insights, events, ideas - whatever we encounter in life. Let things lie for a while, then go back and mull them over. The Sages say that whatever you encounter, study it four times. This process is likened to the act of planting - because wisdom is for the soul what food is for the body. 1.  PLOWING  - The first time you go over an idea, try to figure it out. That's "breaking up the soil." 2.  PLANTING  - The second time, the idea begins to make sense. You're "putting seeds into the ground," planting it into yourself. 3.  HARVESTING  - The third time, you come to an experiential and intellectual understanding. It's "reaping the wheat." 4.  DIGESTING  - The fourth time, you integrate the idea into your life. It "nourishes" your soul and is now part of you. We all want to achieve great things with minimum effort. A great sage said: "A person wants to be

Impermanence of life - Pragnesh Ruparel

The day opened with a rude shocker on our school FB Group ,that Pragnesh Ruparel a close friend of  mine ever since I was 10 passed away this morning through an arrest on his heart while on a morning walk .  Even last night he was celebrating the fact that the BJP was on a road to victory in Bengal and I as usual was taking a friendly dig at him . A man of strong convictions he remained a diehard RSS supporter with a desire to bring about economic development in Bengal much in the lines of Gujarat . This obviously lead to his leg often being pulled by his Bengali friends .  A staunch and true blue Xaverian , his father also happened to be an alumnus of our Alma Mater ,the prestigious St Xavier's Collegiate School in Calcutta . Prganesh was a man of stout built in school and carried a lot of physics prowess. He never misused the same , until he was forced to size down a bully who had joined from Don Bosco Park Circus . After declaring victory , he took the bully out for lunch .  Pr

Posture and location in meditation

The act of meditating is the final culmination of getting thorough control of your body , mind and intellect . This is also known as Karma , Bhakti and Jnana Yoga .  One has to prepare oneself for the act of meditation .  Posture is very important. One has to sit straight and the legs have to be in a comfortable position .  Even one's office work being done at home should be from a comfortable height of a chair - neither too high or low. The spine should be kept erect .  The place should be unique so that there is respect and privacy for the role being performed .  In ancient times , the Rishis would seek out some unique place in the forests for themselves below the trees .  Chapter 6 of the Gita explains this well.

Subordinates ---- Drucker

Successful executives are not afraid of strong subordinates. Strong subordinates help executives fulfill their own responsibilities. And giving subordinates expanded responsibility helps to develop them. Abraham Lincoln selected as cabinet members four of his opponents for the Republican nomination for president in 1860. At least two of them, William H. Seward and Salmon P. Chase, on the basis of formal qualifications, including education and experience, were more qualified for the presidency than Lincoln. His second secretary of war, Edwin Stanton, a Democrat and former attorney general in the Buchanan administration, previously thought dimly of Lincoln’s ability as a lawyer. Yet Lincoln knew he was dealing with very serious problems and needed to assemble the most talented team available to help him carry out his responsibilities. PICKING STRONG SUBORDINATES “Making a leader effective.” Precisely because an effective leader knows that he, and no one else, is  ultimately responsible
