Posture and location in meditation

The act of meditating is the final culmination of getting thorough control of your body , mind and intellect . This is also known as Karma , Bhakti and Jnana Yoga .

One has to prepare oneself for the act of meditation .

Posture is very important. One has to sit straight and the legs have to be in a comfortable position .

Even one's office work being done at home should be from a comfortable height of a chair - neither too high or low. The spine should be kept erect .

The place should be unique so that there is respect and privacy for the role being performed .

In ancient times , the Rishis would seek out some unique place in the forests for themselves below the trees .

Chapter 6 of the Gita explains this well.
