It was nice to visit the Kolkata book fair today . The traffic and ambience was pretty well managed . There was a surfeit of stalls though the major bias towards bengali books. It is a good forum for new poets/authors to make their presence felt. A lot of old books were being sold at discounted rates.
The government has to a large extent supported the cause of the book fair to make it a success.
Thanks to Kindle and various websites , I think English books have taken a beating as there are ways to access the same.
The other attractions were of course the handicrafts , food and beverages stalls .
